There two ways to comunicate with Heidenhain controls via RS-232. 1. ASCII download/upload No drip feed capability No error checking Requires PC operation Any terminal program works 2. Blockwise transfer Unlimited drip feed capability Line BCC error checking Use can use higher baudrates in safe way You can do everything from the CNC (copying, deleting, directory listing, etc.) Requires TNCServer.exe. Should be easy to find now. I payed de equivalent of 300USD to the Heidenhain Portuguese dealer for a diskette copyed in front of me (ilegal) in 1990. The null modem cable works great if you use software handshake (XON-XOFF). I am not up to date with the late models but I think they didn't change much regarding RS-232 operation. Also consider Ethernet operation. It's much faster...

Rousey goto www.heidenhain.co.uk and download TNCremote. Then goto the RS online at rswww.com (I think) and look for the at the pin out for a 9-25 way connector. the rest is easy.

F. Sharifi mate I have no problems with what you suggest but I didn't realise that this was the forum for the IEEE ! There is free software available from the website I mentioned that does everything required to talk to a Heidenhain control. My omission of a cable pin out was the flaw in the post but to say the advise before yours is unfair. I have worked on Heidenhain controls among others as a tech for 12 years and to be honest what on earth is your post about?
