Can anyone tell me how to test to see if a power supply is bad. Does anyone know what goes wrong with these? Anyone with any help please send it. I need to get this lathe going. Anyone with used fanuc parts (A20B-1000-0410). Does anyone know if I can take this power supply out of the machine and apply power to the input and should I get power out the 24 volt and 5 volt outputs? Once again please let me know what you think or know. |

| the best way is to not take it out as it may have an E-Stop line or enable line running through it. There should be test points that have the +24 +5 -5 +10? etc. called out. and if it hasn't blown the fuses, it should be OK, if it has blown the fuses count on replacing the MOV's or it will keep blowing fuses. Fanuc fuses can be made (repaired) by smashing a glass fuse of same value and soldering the link into the fanuc cartridge, making sure that the contacts are held open while soldering. You'll get the idea after you break it apart. This is recommended as a in-a-pinch situation, until you get the PS up and running and order the proper $10 fuse. Fanuc has very good circuit protection, so more than likely the MOV's are your only problem, unless you have terrible luck and a Capacitor has gone south or a propietary module went out. Try all 3 fanuc sources if you have to buy a new one. GE FANUC, FANUC USA, and FANUC INDUSTRIAL. There are also FANUC repairers around, such as us. I'll check to see if we have one laying around. metal oxide varistors, circuit protectors simular to fuses, but short when they go bad, instead of open. Usually when exposed to a voltage surge. Lightning or a power glitch, or if someone wired a 220 machine into a 460 line. If this ever happens, you are going to have many more serious and expensive problems. Call a service rep. MOV's look like disk capacitors and are located close to the fuses/input. You should have 4- 3 black and one blue or red. Black ones are about the size if a nickle and the blue or red, slightly smaller. I believe Fanuc calls them suppressors or snubbers. they should not measure under 2 ohms across the leads. We don't have any PS on hand right now. What control ? |

I was told that this lathe had a fanuc 3tc when I purchased it used. I have also been told that it may be a 0. The manual says Fanuc Mate TC. Where can I get these Mov's? I will test these today and let you know what I find. The fuses are not blown so does this rule out the Movs. |
