| Maybe! The wheels that come with it may not be exactly what you'd want, but that is easy to fix. It is actually maybe a little underpowered for an 8 inch grinder. Depends how hard you want to lean on it. 3/4hp is more common for an 8" grinder. It would sure be nice to examine the shaft size farther up from the wheels, to see if it is as beefy as a 3/4 hp unit. Otherwise, the thing will always seem to be buzzing because of shaft flexure due to slight out of balance.

| You shouldn't need to push that hard on the grinder - those little bits get hot in a hurry and you should be more worried about pausing and dunking them in water to keep them cool. I use a 6" grinder and the only shortcomings I've found are with the junk toolrests found on all these types of grinders. Homier has cheaper models, by the way (http://www.homier.com/itemdetail.asp?i=03009&c=11 - 8" 3/4HP for $20). |
