Newbie- Need Wireless DNC Advice

I am researching serial-to-wireless dnc solutions for the company I work for and need some help. I got a trial version of easyDNC but it required us to put the software in "read mode" and then punch down the program from the controller or select and push a program from easyDNC, then hit read on the controller. Are there any DNC solutions where you are not required to touch the controller AND the DNC software? What would be ideal for us is where we could access the programs saved on our network directly from the controller without having to put the DNC software in "read mode" or "push mode". Or the opposite, where we could push and pull programs from the DNC software without having to touch the controller. My thought is why use serial to wireless adapters if you have to touch both the controller and DNC software? Whats the advantage of serial adapters over connecting the laptop directly to the controller and accessing the network files with the laptop on our exisiting wifi network? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or comments.
