Does anyone have any experience with connecting a Roku Roku machine or Fanuc control to their computer via networking? I have a circa 1997/1998 Roku Roku GR655N graphite mill with a Fanuc 16M control, which has BNC connectors for getting the machine on a network. I had a service technician out who said the machine could be connected to a computer via an adapter, but did not know the specifics of what was needed. From my understanding, BNC connectors were used with token ring networking devices, which work completely different from modern hub and spoke networks. Given that, I don't even know where to start looking for something that could jump that gap. If anyone has any insight on how this is done, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks in advance! | Update: My son had a chance to come by the shop, and he said the BNC connectors were on a transceiver box, not the Fanuc computer itself. Per his recommendation, we purchased an AUI (DB15) to ethernet (RJ45) transceiver, which should hopefully allow us to get the machine on our network, or at least run directly into a computer via a crossover cable. We are hoping this will allow us to copy entire programs over to the machine rather than having to drip feed (machine will be running a lot of 3D surfacing for EDM electrodes). Does anyone have any experience with this? |
