Need Help!- Hermle UWF900E Simodrive fault

Hi,
I have a Hermle UWF900E that keeps stopping, showing Emergency Stop error on screen. On checking inside the cabinet the Siemens Simodrive controller for the spindle drive motor shows a F14 fault (Exciter current monitor, actual less than or equal to 50% of set).
I have replaced the controller with a reconditioned unit, which gives the same fault. I have had the spindle drive motor with a motor repair company who found no problem with the motor or the tacho. I have had an electrician on site for the best part of a week changing relays like they're going out of fashion.
The Hermle service agent is not very local and wants stupid money to come over to check it out, and isn't very forth coming with info on the phone.
Any light anyone can throw on this would be appreciated.

Just a thought, can you make up a separate cable outside of the housing to connect the drive to the motor, and test it that way? It could be a damaged cable...
