Weeke Spindle Problem

I am not sure if this is the correct spot for this, I apologize it is not.

I am having a little problem with the main router on my Weeke BHC-550. Occasionally, and progressively more and more, my machine forgets which tool it is holding. I then need to manually remove it and have the machine pick it up again.

One Weeke tech told me that in order to fix that problem, I would need to replace the router motor/spindle. I looked into doing that and found out it is nearly $15,000 to exchange my current motor with a rebuilt one.

Before I bit that bullet, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and fixed it in a more minor fashion.

Thanks for any help.

Buy me a Beer?

Do you have any moisture in you're air lines? We have a Masterwood and when our drier was down for a few days, it started doing similar things. We manually put a little oil in the air lines to the spindle, and it cleared it up. It might be a bad sensor, though. Masterwood wanted $15K to replace our HSD spindle. HSD USA has new ones for ~$5K. These ate 10HP ATC spindles.

On that airline note, if you have moisture in the works, it can begin to affect machine performance. Make sure your compressor is fully drained regularly. It screwed up the tool changer on our BMC 30 before, the carousel jammed up. Alternatively it could be one of ur belts (dunno the layout of the machine, just some general help) :-P
