Need Help!- Ethernet Communications with 21i-mb

I have a Mighty Machine Viper and I am trying to use the Ethernet Communication. I have a laptop connected using an ftp server and it works great but if the machine sits for a few hours then the computer and machine can't comunicate until we turn the controle off and then on agian. Is there a time paramater that shuts of the eithernet or what. Please help

I've heard if you PING the CNC occasionally it will keep the connection from going "dead". I don't know how you can automate this... perhaps a "batch" file or a VB program or script running in the background. (We've just reached the limit of my knowledge on this).

I am using a Pinging bach file as follows:

:start
ping 192.168.254.1 -n 1 (ip of controle)
ping 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 60000 >nul (bogas ip)
goto start

this pings the controle every minute working so far

Never mind, left machine on all night with pinging and still conection is lost and have to restart controle to restore. Please help anyone?

also does anyone have a suggestion that when "punching" with ethernet, the program and all its subs that we can name it instead of the resulting file be named ALLPROG
