No expert here but really no difference in how it operates or the potential for a quality finished product.(yes directions are reversed but they are on the same axis, the machine doesn't see a difference.) Speaking in general terms, you can usually use smaller and cheaper stepper motors to move the cutting head where you may need servo motors or much harder to come by large stepper motors for the machine moving more mass when you move the table and piece being cut. Servo motors do have the advantage that they can't lose a step without the controller knowing it, stepper motors can. However that doesn't seem to be a major issue.

I did endless research and just got a headache so I jumped in and bought a used machine. Waiting on software I ordered today and I'll see how things go.
