You should be able to.
I am currently converting over a router to Gecko drives and G100. Can I establish mach 3 setup to G100 with out the completion of the drive hookup. I am going with the 203's but have not completed the drive wiring.
Thank you for help
JohnD.
You should be able to.

You definitely can do this. I had done just the same when wiring my unit with G100 and 4 G212's.
Rgds,
JohnB.
Thank you and now for the next set of questions . Is there any information for initial hookup?
Do I just use a just a USB cross over cable to connect to the computer?
Do I also need a network cable?
Do I follow the Mach 3 configuration giude or do I use Gecko's .
I sorry if I sound frustrated but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
JohnD.
You need to hook up both the ethernet and USB connection initially, as well as the wall wart power supply (or wire power to terminals on side). The first thing then establish a connection with the Grex using the Grex Loader and to flash the latest firmware revision and the FPGS config. Once this is done you run the firmware, which will make you lose the browser connection to the Grex.
At this time Mach3 should now be able to "see" the "heartbeat" of the Grex, but you'll need to install the G100 plugin into Mach first.
At that point, you'll be ready to set the pin-outs for all the connections. One thing that took me a while to find out is that the G100 plugin for Mach takes care of directing the signals to the correct port, so there is no need to set the port in the assignments page to port 1 or 2, only the pin assignments and the high or low condition - as long as the g100 plugin is active that is.
Rgds,
JohnB
Hope that gets you started, let me know if I've confused you.
Thank you for the Help JohnB
Where we are at is when we start the G-Rex loader The first screen comes up with the statement "Grex device not found". We push the "Find Gecko" as described in the setup guide and get no where. Is this where you are refering to flash the firmware and the FPGS config file. I hate to sound stupid any help would be appreciated.

hi!, first you have to turn off the windows security alert in order to let the SW find the I.P. for the G100, also check the I.P. in the righ corner, many times the information is there, check the ethernet connection properties.
take these and tell us about it!
I am also currently building a cnc router with the same hardware: 1 G100 control and 3 gecko g203V I think you have the same items, I already achieved some things: load the Mach3 and also because I can see the IP address of my Grex (G100), you can use this guide that I am using:
http://www.machsupport.com/Downloads....1_9-19-07.pdf
I already achieved some things and I am a little more advance that you but I have to build my power supply to connect my motors and G100 drivers to the G100, the problem that I have is when start the Mach3 I do not see the G100 online and ready y have to setup first the G100 or I have to connect the drivers and motors first??? anyone can help? Help us each other we can do this.
Greetings JohnD.
JhonB: I have the firmware, and also the G100 plugin into Mach3, I know that because I can see it in the Mach3 folder, but I canīt see the label for the Grex in the Mach3 like the tutorial video show it, could you tell me how can check that the Mach3 can "see" the "heardbeat" of the G100? I think I did everything ok but now what about the setup for the G100? I need to connect motors and drivers to the G100 first and also the power supply???
Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
