Machine moves in jog, creeps in auto

Ok, this has got me stumped. I've got my motors set up correctly, verified with a dial indicator. .100 on the DRO is .100 on the indicator. I can jog the machine just fine. 10 IPM in the X and 15 IPM in the Z. The problem is when I go to run a program in auto, it creeps and I can hear each step ticking off. Then when I go back to manual, it does the same thing. Moves incredibly slow. I have to close Mach and re-start it to get the speed back in manual. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your g-code has a very low feedrate in it.

It's not in the g-code. I've tried rapids, F10, F400, and F1000. Then when I go back to manual I get the creep feed again until I re-start the program. Then all is good in manual mode again. I just updated to the latest version of Mach3 and I'll try that in the morning. I really need this up and running as I've got a lot of paying work waiting to go through it.

look at the feedrate on the screen, mach remembers and uses the last given feedrate.

it also defaults to a slow feedrate on startup for anything typed in the MDI line.

Find the feedrate box on the screen, click on it and type in a higher number.

You can also edit the default feedrate which in metric mode is 6 by going into the general config, in the initiation string where G80 is put a space after g80 and type f20 or what ever you want.

I think it has something to do with the computer. I was able to get up and running in about 20 minutes on my daughters laptop. The motors were kind of jumpy and growly, but that may have been that it's a 2.6ghz. I wrote about 5 different programs, and they all ran perfectly. I think I will fdisk the PC and put a fresh copy of XP on there to start.
