| Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone could help me get a simple Z homing device setup? Here's what I've done. I got this information from Build Your Own CNC Router Machine and it's not working for me. I've posted over there (below is most of my post from that site) and no one has answered, so I decided to see if anyone at this site can help. First here's my configuration. In Mach 3: Under Input Signals: Z Home enabled pin 13 Under Homing Limits Z (checked) Home Negative & Auto Zero (checked) On my breakout board I have a wire going from the pin 13 connector and another wire hooked to the 5V slot next to it (in the appropriate direction) It's my belief after watching the video that I should now be able to hit the REF ALL button and the machine will move till it completes a circuit in any direction that's enabled in the homing Limits section. So my problem is when I hit the REF ALL button, I get nothing. (I've checked to make sure that the M3 light lights up when I touch the wires together.)The machine doesn't move. I checked to make sure that everything was still working by jogging the machine and adding manual g-code. Any idea on why it wouldn't be working, or any ideas on where to go from here. Zeroing by eye just doesn't work very well . I'm just looking to zero the Z right now. Any help would be appreciated. |

| 1) Do you actually have a switch attached to the machine? It doesn't sound like it, when you mentioned touching the wires together? 2) Home Negative should NOT be checked for the Z axis. The home switch should be at the top of the Z axis, in the + direction. 3) Is there any error message when you click the Ref All button?

| Gerry, 1) No switch yet. I was planning to attach the wire to the plate after I made sure it worked by touching the wires together. 2) OK, I'll uncheck Home Negative. 3) There's no error message when I click REF ALL or when I click REF Z in Diagnostics. Thanks |
