Can i use/setup a servo motor as spindle in mach3

I have a spare servo motor laying around together with encoder and driver that I havent used. I have lately thought about setting it up on my cnc and mount a saw blade on to it. My plan is to use the spindle speed display in mach3 so that I can controll the speed of the blade. Is this even possible? Only other option is setting it up like the other axies and just ajust the motor speed as normal. But it could be kinda cool to have it running as a normal spindle. It might not have suficient tourqe when it comes to the end, but I recond itīs worth a try..

Is it just adding the step and dir under the spindle under ports and pins, or does it need more ajusting?

Has anyone tries this and know how to setup this?

    Thanks....

    Kim

Just set up the step and direction pins in Ports and Pins> Motor Outputs. Then go to the Spindle Tab, and under Motor Control, check "Use Spindle Motor Output" and "Step/Dir Motor". You also need to set it up in motor tuning.
    That should be it.

Hi - Not trying to hijack your thread but I have a similar situation

I have a stepper motor (for the time being) as the motor for my 4th axis - I have it also set up as the spindle so I can work the 4th axis like a lathe

the only problem I have is I cannot control the spindle speed / RPM in Mach 3?
