Free up one input channel for probing | | I'm sure this has been discussed but I couldn't find it...
I'm running Mach3 with a G540 drive on a gantry style machine with 4 steppers. I've been struggling to find a way to free up an input port for touch probing without adding hardware.
I'm running two limit switches per axis with both switches are in parallel on one input, which takes up the (4) G540 inputs. The solution was to combine the Z axis and X axis (not slaved) on one input. When homing Mach looks for the home signal on the axis it is driving and ignors the other switchs. So it doesn't care that the Z home switch activates when the X axis is homing.
The issue with this is that the machine really doesn't know which switch was tripped of the 4 connected to one input, but this is a small machine were I can see whats going on.
Let me know if anyone knows of issues with this approach. |
