Alright, I'm more confused than ever after trying to search for a simple formula to calculate the steps per in Mach. I am using Keling's KL23H2100-35-4B motors which have a step angle of 1.8 giving them 200 steps per revolution. I am using 1/2-8 2 start lead screws and my controller is a 10 Microstep controller. I know I take the steps per revolution and multiply it by the 10 microsteps and then divide or multiply it by the pitch of the lead screw??? man I just wish there was a simple calculator for this stuff. but then if that were the case I wouldn't feel so accomplished when it's all done and running proper. Can someone toss me a bone here? thank you. |

| If one turn of the screw produces 1/8" linear motion then it takes 8 turns to move one inch so you have 8*200*10=16000 steps/inch. If one turn of the screw produces 1/4" linear motion then you have 4*200*10=8000 steps/inch and so on. There is a "calculator" for it built into Mach3, I think it's located on the settings page. It asks you for a distance to move, you measure how long it actually moved and it calculates what to enter. |
