My steppers are not moving.

Hey everyone,I'm having trouble. I got everything wired up and on to my computer. I followed all instructions, and the tutorials on MAchsupport. But, My steppers are not doing anything. I have the hobbcnc 3axis kit if that helps.

My steppers are wired up correctly. But, I cant seem to get them to work. Any suggestions?

Buy me a Beer?

Do they lock up when you power up the board?

No, nothing comes on. I got a volt meter and voltage is getting to the CNCboard, but no further. The CNCboard fan does not come on either.

Then you have a problem with your HobbyCNC board.

Well, I was over looking everything, and noticed that one of my capacitors were not soldered in 100%. I got it soldered in, and now my board is reading voltage correctly.

But I'm still having stepper driving issues. It seems that Mach3 is not sending signals to the hobby board.

If you jog or run code in Mach3, do the DRO's change. If they do, mach3 is sending signals. Then the problem is usually that the port address is set wrong, or the ports and pins settings are wrong, improper parallel cable,.....

When you say not sending signals, can you be more specific?

Thanks for the reply Gerry. I will test that out.

By not sending signals, I mean that Mach3 is not telling the HobbyBoard what to do.

How are you sure of that?

I'm not. It seems as it is not sending signals.

Okay, so here is my update.

I have re-set all mach3 settings with no success.
I have my steppers wired correctly.
My board is reading 5.2v
My steppers DO NOT lock up
It appears as Mach3 is working, but how do i test it?

If the steppers do not lock up, then the drives are not working. There is no power at the motors. It's not a mach3 problem.
