I'm using Mach 1, and one problem I'm having ot that when doing drill cycle the rapid move to the next hole is breaking bits because the machine moves in the x and y before the z can get out of the way. It should z up to the clear the bit before it move but that not what is happening. Does anyone have any solutions?

| what does your Gcode look like? It should be something similar to this: G83 X1 Y1 Z-1 F10 R.1 Q.1 where R is the retract didstance and Q is the peck increment X2 Y2 X2 and Y2 are the next 2 holes, just random easy numbers to work with. Also make sure everything is configured correctly ![]() Jon |

| Check the manual, but I think you can use G98 and/or G99 (they work differently) to specify a higher retract location after the cycle is complete. Ther was just some talk about this on the Yahoo group. This may have been fixed in the latest version. (G98/G99)

| Just read your post again. Are you really using Mach1, or are you using Mach2/3? If your using Mach1, you really should be using Mach2. Mach 1 is no longer being updated, while Mach2 is constantly being updated.

| I'll try mach 2, and see how that works. My friend has tried to get mach 2 to run on his computer and never could get it to work, so I just stuck to Mach 1.

| I heard that has been an issue, My laptop doesnt run mach2, well it does but incredibly slowly and slows the entire computer. Mach2 is definately a better choice, sometimes its just something you need to get the hang of. Itll be worth your time I think to switch to mach2. Jon |
