    MOTOR TUNING

I'm very confused at this point. Ive read so many different things, my head is spinning but I'd like to learn.

My motors are 200 steps per rev. my driver board is set to 1/8steps

    my threaded rod is 1/4-20

I'm thinking i need 32000 steps per but i'm lost in every other category.

    Mach3 is set to MM

    Could someone give me:

Steps Per, velocity (mm/min), accel (mm/sec) step pulse, and dir pulse?

or at least point me in the right direction?>

    Steps/mm = 32000/25.4 = 1259.8425

Step and Dir pulse depend on the drive, but are usually set between 2 and 5.

Velocity and accel vary from machine to machine, and are usually set by trial and error. Start with a very low accel and slowly increase velocity until steps are missed, then back off 20-30%. Then increase accel until maxed, and again, decrease by 20-30%.

    THANK YOU

    ger21:

you nailed it. I've only used a sharpy taped to the router to measure w/ a caliper but the results are dead on and are good enough for now.

Now for velocity and acceleration...which i will figure out for myself.

    Thank you!
