I have just aquired a bunch of Dell computers with winxp pro and I am getting them ready for sale. I know that Mach3 thru the pport specs 1ghz and 512 ram with a discrete video card, but was wondering if the requirements were less when running an external motion control device. I know that my dspmc powered machine runs fine from my Vista laptop and a 1ghz AMD win2k computer with onboard graphics. I have a bunch of them with a p4 2.2ghz cpu, 256k ram, pport and serial port, ethernet, usb, and onboard video. I ran my Taig on one of these with 512k ram and the onboard video using the onboard pport. It looks and sounds good, BUT I didn't run an hour long program and look for lost steps. I can set several of them up with discrete video cards and 512 ram, but is it needed when running a smooth stepper or a galil card? Any idea's or thought would be welcome. Mike

| When not using the parallel port, requirements should be quite a bit lower. But I still wouldn't go less than 1Ghz.

| I don't think RAM comes into play, unless you run extremely large files. And video shouldn't matter at all. I know that a ton of people run Mach with 256MB of memory on the parallel port, so for most cases it should be fine. But I'd spend $20 and get a Gig just to be safe.

I am new to this forum, but I am in need to purchase OneCNC2003 software to use with my shopdata software that was installed on my computer when I purchased my table CNC machine. Any thoughts on where I can find this software?? |

I have all of the 2350 dells cleaned up and ready to go. They run Mach3 real well even with the 256k ram. perfect for a smooth stepper or dspmc based machine. They also tested well on my Taig running thru the pport. I will be putting them up on ebay soon but I thought I would offer them to everyone here first. Comes with 2.2ghz processor, onboard video, pport, serial port, network port, and usb. I have several with discrete video cards. Extra memory is cheap on ebay. Make sure you get the ddr with one key slot, not 2. I can give you a link if needed. They have a fresh install of winxp pro, service pack 3, daylight savings time update and a trial copy of Mach installed. Winxp pro COA included. $95 plus shipping. Send me a PM if interested. Local pickup welcomed. Delivery possible, but extra. Mike
