Are the encoder pulses to the parallel port supposed to be 12v?
Most I have seen suggested were 5v.

Hi
I connected an encoder to lpt1 and I assigned the correct pin in mpg view. Now when I rotate the encoder the axes doesn't respect the movmet if I turn the encoder in clocwise the axis (x) goes in positive way but during the turn it goes in negative way then in positive way, I don't know which encoder I have, I have only the square wave from my oscilloscope. The encoder has 4 wire positive negative A and B
I hope to be clear
Again I'm sorry for my english

In the picture you can see 12 volt but i tried theencoder with 5 volt

Could be stray noise in the signal between the encoder and Parallel port or betweeen the port and the stepper driver, or a dirty encoder wheel? Since you have a scope, you should be able to detect that.
