Engraving

Hi,

I have a Tormach PCNC1100 CNC mill running Mach3. I have been having fun doing some engraving on this machine. I recently tried to engrave a plaque for my wife but it would not cut. I generated the code using Bobcad v20 loaded the file into Mach3 pushed start and the cutter rapided to position fed to depth and made a few moves that looked nothing like the code and stopped.

I can put the code into the Bobcad CAM side and it will regenerate the text, that I want to engrave, perfectly. It will not run past the first Z move in Mach3.
I must have a setting wrong or something. Any suggestions anyone?

I've done some engraving in acrylic on a Tormach using code generated by SprutCAM and had no problems at all. I'd guess that the problem is on the CAM side or maybe the post processor. Have you checked the code line by line to see where the problem starts?

Thanks for your reply. I have not had a problem in the past. The machine stops almost immediately, right at the first Z move. The only variable that I know of is, I downloaded a demo of BobCad 2007. After thinking about it I uninstalled the BCC 2007, but the problem remains. I suspect that I have corrupted all my Bobcad files and I will have to load some of my other engravung files to check this out.

Try to reload the post-processor, go to

http://www.bobcadsupport.com/posts/

The new download uses a separate post and directory install this should not have been able to cause any changes in your software.

The other thing that it may be is an accuracy setting click on file then enviorment then general change your gen. accuracy to .0001 and set the chain gap to .0001 as well regenerate the text then vectorize it also with a
.0001 accuracy then create code for it ...
should work ...

If it doesent try uploading the program that does not work and one that does then we can take a look and let you know whats wrong.

If all that you are using is a plasma V22 will not help you just yet there is no support for laser or plasma yet V21 is the most current .

Hi Sowen and Newtexas2006,

I have never tried to post a program but I will try. It should be here as an attachment. I have posted only a small segment ( the entire file is over 30,000 lines of code ). When I try to run the program it goes to line 17 and stops. There is something strange tho, the counter that counts up as the program is running keeps counting even tho the program has stopped.

The line N5 G70 F10 is not right.
