I pulled out old Sony Pentium2, 300Mhz CPU with 256Mb Rams 4G, and get no communication out from the port. Perhaps the spec is listed in the manuals, but I can't find any minimum requirement specification for computer to use with MACH 2 and 3? ANyone? THanks J |

| About 500 Mhz for Mach2, and 1 Ghz for Mach3. If you want to run it at the higher kernel speeds (35 and 45Khz), you'll want at least 2Ghz. These are recommended minimums, but I've heard of plenty of people using slower machines without problems. But I've also heard of people having nagging problems disappear when switching to faster PC's.

| Hello J, I have had personal experience with a 300 Mhz. I ran Mach 2 and for the most part didn't have a problem running basic 2d work. When I started carving 3d objects the machine wouldn't get very far before the tool would take a nose dive into the part. Pretty intense features, yes, but when I upgraded to a 1.8 Mhz computer, not only did the tool stay on track, I noticed an increase in actual speed of the cnc, too. I'd recommend a faster cpu regardless of which version Mach you choose to run. HTH Doug |

| Both Mach2 and mach3 require Windows 2000 or XP. They won't work on Windows98
