First post. Great board, been reading for a week and am fairly new to CNC. I'm currently doing research to build a CNC Plasma Table. My question relates to generating G-Code. I downloaded Mach3 to play around with. I already have ACAD. I make a 2d drawing in CAD and import the dxf file into MACH and it generates the G-Code? If that is the case then why does it seem like everyone generates the g-code with a different program and then loads it into MACH? Or am I missing something else with the added software? Thanks, Mike |

| LazyCAM, or the old Mach3 importer that preceeded it, only provide limited functionality compared to full blown CAM packages. A lot of plasma guys use SheetCAM. You might want to check it out. www.sheetcam.com
