In reference to some recent inquiries about the Yaskawa and/or Omron Servo Drives and Motors -
Here are some pics of current set-up Ive got started with the Yaskawa and Omron drives. The Omron R88-UP04HP and UP08HP drives are actually Yaskawa SGDA - 01AP and SGDA - 02AP drives. On both models the last letter "P" distinguishes them as Pulse input drives which can be configured to accept Step & Direction inputs, with a little work. (They are true differential inputs).
The difference between the Pulse and Analog SGDA - 0XAS or R88-UP0XHS models is that the "S" models accept only Analog current or voltage inputs. These can theoretically be used with MachX if used with a Sylil or Rutex +-10Volt to Step & Direction converter, although I have yet to try this.
The motors I've used are the standard SGM and SGMP Yaskawa or the Omron R88 Motors in the appropriate current models. Therse are not current intertchangeable from what Yaskawa and Omron have told me, in other words a 200 Volt 100 Watt motor must be matched to a 200Volt 100Watt drive. The Omron motors do work with the Yaskawa SGD and SGDA drives, and the Yaskawa SGM motors work with Omron R88 drives, although the SGMP "Pancake" style Yaskawa Motors work only with the Omron R88 and Yaskawa SGDA drives, but NOT with the SGD drives.
There are around 50 parameters that must be set correctly to get these to work with MachX, the manual must be read and understood for the specific drive and motor.
