Can mach 3 Mill be used to control a rotary table using the 4th axis? If so, once it is under set up and under control how do you write code for it, is it possible to input the number of degrees to move or do you have to know how many steps you want it to move and put that into code. I have only been looking at mach 3 for a couple of weeks and my initial interest was for a lathe. However, if rotary control is possible and relatively easy to program I may be building a cnc drilling machine. I need X axis, Z axis and a rotary table, no Y is required as all holes are in round parts and drilled radially on centre. |

| Yes, you can tell it to rotate a certain number of degrees. If it's the A axis, you can use: G1 A270 to rotate 270 degrees. I believe when you set up the motor in Mach3, you set it up for steps per revolution.

| That sounds easy enough, looks like I will have to get serious about the cnc drill. Is A the normal name for a rotary table axis? Can the axis buttons in Mac3 be re configured to suit your needs? With my lathes I only get X and Z Am I right in assuming Z would be movement of the drill itself, X would be left-right under the drill and A would be the rotary device |
