I love sheetcam, its so easy to use. You only can import 2D drawings into it. But you can make 3D parts, by using different depths of the cutting methods. Simple 3D parts with strait edges, or depending on if you have a ball end mill or somthing you can do slots and pockets with a radius...etc
I tried mesh cam and its pretty much for 3D milling and just makes 3D path to make the whole 3D object. Personally I need to drill holes, and change out different tools durring the process to do specific cuts. But I haven't used mesh cam very much at all so I don't know its limitations exactly.
