Not sure if this is a Mach4 question or G-Rex

    But here is goes.
I am converting a Bridgeport Boss 5 to servo's and Machx. I want to use separate MPG's to contol each axis (instead of one MPG and a selector switch.)
Can I use the encoder inputs (the A,B and C axis) on the G-rex to accept MPG inputs to drive the X,Y and Z axis?

If so it also looks like the G-rex can be run in autonomous mode and be controlled with the MPG's to make a pseudo manual mill.

First, don't make duplicate poosts, it's against forum rules.

Mach4 isn't finished yet, and I doubt that would work at this time, but I'd imagine that this will be implemented when it's finished (2-3 months, probably). Best to email Art directly and ask, but he's been on vacation and it may take him a week or so to get caugh up. fenerty@artofcnc.ca

If you plan on actuall using the MPGG's to do manual milling, it seems to me that using MDI mode would be much simpler.

You can't use the parallel port and the GRex together, it is either one or the other. I got clarification from art on this.

Gerry I think it would be a lot easier to turn a handle that to type all the info into the MDI. I may be misunderstanding what is wanted here but I think he wants a manual/cnc mill and the mpg's would do that.

    ps wouldn't it?

I think it's a matter of personal preference, but I think for actual milling, MDI would give better results. jmo.

Yep, that is what I want to do. If the inputs could be mapped to Mach it should work. I don't want to be typing when I am milling something, just turn the handles.

Sorry about the mix up. I accidentally changed your post when I meant to reply to it.
I was saying that it's a question of whether or not Mach4 will have this feature. I'm pretty sure it will.
