15. Add below to SYSTEM.INI:
1. Click the Start Button.
2. Click Run.
3. Type SYSTEM.INI and press [ENTER].
4. Find the section with [386 enh] and add this:
[386 enh]
Conservativeswapfileusage=1
5. Add this section at the top under [386 enh]
[vcache]
Minfilecache=16384
Maxfilecache=16384
I cant figure this out? This is what I did. I found the [386 enh] and put the info below it. Is this correct?
[386 enh]
Conservativeswapfileusage=1
[vcache]
Minfilecache=16384
Maxfilecache=16384
Thanks Stephen

I haven't tried it, but what you posted looks correct. If your PC runs Mach OK without the optimization, I wouldn't bother with them. Especially the ones that are more complicated, like the one you posted. A faster PC shouldn't need the optimisations, I don't think, unless you're having problems.

Just for the heck of it I down loaded it to my laptop, E machine. Locked up at first. after doing all of the optimization and using the other driver it looks quite good.I have a second hard drive for when I am messing around if I screw it up I just format and start over.
I will be setting up a PC just for the mill convertion BP boss 5 rigid ram. I have read laptops dont do well? I just wanted to have a look at the program first.
Thanks Gerry
During the install, near the end, uncheck the box that says "install driver". Then it will run in simulation mode, without accessing the parallel port, and shouldn't lock up any PC. It won't run a machine that way, but it will act like it does.Originally Posted by sdeering

I have done all of the optimizations on my laptop just to see if it would work. It looks like it will work with the other driver. Now to start collecting parts to biuld a 1ghz PC for the mill.![]()
I just bought a Dell 1.1Ghz optiplex motherboard, ram and cpu for $40 on Ebay. Add $5 for the proprietary Dell power supply. Throw in the $20 for shipping, and an old hard drive I had laying around, and it's working great with Mach3. I'm typing this on it right now. Just got it running yesterday, Win2K SP4 and all the windows updates. No optimisations at all, and the Mach3 Driver Test shows a perfectly flat line with almost zero deviation. 23765-23766 I'm very pleased with the $70 I spent.Originally Posted by sdeering

You did well Garry.
Thats what I am thinking of doing, I have been looking on Ebay for PC parts. Just purchased a book " BUILDING A PC DO IT YOURSELF FROM FSTART TO FINISH"
I have been dabling in Biulding PCs I go to the dollar store and pick up the 1 to 5 dollar ones. Swap good and bad parts to get one good pc. Install operating system. These are mostly older PCs the last one I put together was to download G code to my Bridgeport boss 5. I fryed 2 PCs befor I finally conected the PC to the mills power supply, everything was great till I ran the steppers then the PC woud lock up and not work.
How does the licience thing work What happens if a person loses a PC or a hard drive and has to start over? Can one make a coppy of Mach + the licience for a backup?
Stephen
You can copy and move your Mach3 license, and you can always download the software anytime.
If you don't want to build your own, there are a ton of these on Ebay. With a little patience, you should be able to get a complete system for about $100.

Are you saying one licience will run 2 PCs?
Check this mb out.

That looks good but the price will probably double before it ends. I was seeing prices double in the last 10 minutes when I was looking.
No, I wasn't saying 1 license will run 2 PC's. But I'm pretty sire for non-commercial use, you CAN run 2 from one license. Best to email Art to make sure.
