DELL GX 270, will it run MACH3 ?

i am a complete novice to all things CNC, and i am slowly educating myself through this forum. due to money constraints , i am slowly buying my bits and pieces over a period of time. so first of i am going to buy my computer,so that i can download MACH3, and get familiar with it. i have been offered a DELL GX 270, at the the minute ,i do not know the full spec of the machine. but i made the seller aware , of what i intend using it for. has anyone on this forum , been using this particular type of computer ? and could they let me know , how it has worked for them. as i say i am a complete novice on all matters concerning CNC affairs. so i would appreciate any help and advice , that i can get through this forum. i intend making a machine , that can engrave faces onto wood etc, that kind of thing. looking forward to hearing from this forum.

    yours kindly paul.from ireland

I have a few GX270's. Mine are 2.8Ghz XP machines with 1-2 Gb of ram. They will run Mach no sweat.

I think they are all Pentium 4 processors. I have run Mach successfully with much less.

You probably won't have any trouble.

I would suggest a clean XP install since you don't know the machines history.

I run MACH3 on a Dell GX270 running Windows XP. I use it as a controller computer ONLY. The ONLY application running on this computer is MACH3. It is not internet connected. It performs beautifully!
