Setting up mach3 with linear encoder?

Where I am the cost of good leadscrews is more than a second hand linear encoder so is it possible to use one (or 3) of these with mach3 to improve the accuracy of my machine?
    Thanks

No, is not possible using the parallel port, there are boards that can handle encoders, but the cost is high.
