Lost xml file settings after upgrading mach

I upgraded my mach3 install last week from 3.042.035 to 3.043.022. Started up the new version and cut some parts - no problems. I turned off my computer and it sat for a week (this computer is only for my router - nothing else is on it). Tonight I started it up and all my settings were gone - motor tuning, ports and pins, etc. I tried a backup .xml file from the backup directory, but that didn't work. Then I found an old copy of my .xml file I'd saved from over a year ago. That worked, although I think some of the settings are not where I had them more recently. But why did my .xml file disappear and lose all my settings? That's never happened to me before when I upgraded mach (and it didn't even happen immediately after I upgraded). Any one else have this problem?

Buy me a Beer?

I had mine get corrupted the other day and had to create a new one from scratch. Mine was due to a PC lockup caused by noise.
But I've seen others lose there .xml settings, many times over the years. I don't think anyone really knows why it happens.

What I did this time is make a backup as soon as I had all my settings correct.

Another option is this program from Klaus, that will make a backup and restore you settings.
Profile comparison and port pin check

Thanks Gerry. I'll just go through my settings and try to remember what I had, then make a backup.
