Hello I just finish building a 4 axis cnc wire cutter. I am using a gecko g540 driver and 4 gecko motors. I am using desk cnc to write the g-code and using mach3 to run the machine. When I jog the machine using mach 3 I can feel the motors run very smooth. When I run the machine at the same speed (30 ipm) using gcode for some simple flat shapes the motors really get vibrating. My hotwire is vibrationg when I run the machine and I think it may be originating from the motors. The machine is belt driven with no gear reduction. I am using a program called doubleCAD to draw and export dxf's. Anyone have any ideas about settings in mach that might help. I tried putting G64 and G90 at the start of my code and that didn't help. Is there any CV settings in mach that might help In general config in mach I see there is some CV settings. Could any of those help? My CV distance tolerance is set at 180. What does this do? Thanks Blake Dextraze |

| Enabling CV mode (G64), but turning off all the other CV settings should work the best. It could be that your resolution is too low, though.

| Hi Ger I believe it was in G64 and all the other CV settings are off. I believe the resolution is set at .01 inch. I am talking with the desk cnc tech support to see if I can change this. Maybe I need a new CAM program. desk cnc makes it very easy make my 4 axis code. Maybe I could look into a 2 axis CAM program and slave the other side of my machine using Mach. |

| I meant the resolution of your motors, with no gear reduction.

| Ger That is an interesting idea. I am at about 600 steps per inch with micro stepping and puellys. If I put a gear reduction on that could it really reduce vibration? I guess I could see how 1200 steps per inch could be smoother than 600. Blake |

| 600 steps per inch is much finer than I thought. Probably not the problem.
