Pausing between G-code Lines

I need some help. I am running a JGRO router with Mach3 and am having a problem. Every time the program advances to the next line of g-code there is a slight pause in the motors. The pause is maybe a half second or so but it makes it run pretty jerky. I thought that maybe it was running in exact mode instead of constant velocity but noticed that the cv light is on when running. I then tried switching it to exact stop thinking that it was some cv setting causing the problem and the program and motors ran the exact same way. The only other symptom I have is that I keep loosing position on the y-axis randomly. Sometimes it is 1", sometimes 2" off, sometimes just a few thousanths. It seems to loose position inbetween the pauses. I suspect that it might be a loose coupling causing the position loss but if it is, it still doesn't explain the slight pause between lines of g-code. Any ideas or suggestions?
