WE are using Mach3 and creating cut paths in cut 2d from Alibre files. We are having trouble with the cut out location on the material being changed from cut 2d to mach3. When the code is loaded into mach3 the cutouts are moved to one side of the material instead of centered where we had them in cut 2d. thanks for any help. |

| Make sure you have your origin (0,0) in Cut2D set the same as you're 0,0 in Mach3. There's no way that the cutting position is changing.

Our origins our 0,0 and mach3 is starting in the corner were we want it to but the parts are pushed all the way to one side of the material and we have them centered in the material in in cut2d. We are using mm in cut2d but we are using inches in Mach3, our post possessor settings are mach3 inches. The parts are the right size just positioned wrong in the material. |

Simplest thing to do is generate code for a simple square in Cut2D. Look at the g-code, and see if the coordinates match what's in Cut2D. If you have you're origin set up correctly in Mach3, then you're problem is with Cut2D. Mach3 just reaads the g-code and does what it tells it to.

| It's not. The gcode specifies absolute coordinates. The material on your machine needs to be in the correct location relative to the location in Cut2D.

our problem was in our cad drawing not mach3 or cut2d, total flailing on my part, thanks for all the help. What is the best way to configure Mach three to metric? All the motor tuning numbers we have are in inches. I did change the units to mm on the settings page and that seemed to work but it changes back every time I restart mach3. I work exclusively in metric so I don't want any confusion. Thanks for all your help I am a total rookie with cnc. |

| Config > Select native Units. You'll need to redo the motor tuning in mm's. Be sure to close and restart, both after setting Native Units, and after motor tuning.
