Hi, Looking for a little help with mach3 & slaving motors. I am at the elctronics stage in my build & not sure how the motor tunning with slaved motors works with mach3. If I set two motors as slaved on the X, does the motor tunning treat the two motors as one in the tunning screen, or do I have to do them independently first, if so how do I do it if they are attached to my gantry. I'm sure its obvious but I couldn't find any info on the tunning part |

| You have to adjust the settings for both the mast and the slave separately, but they also need to be exactly the same. It's just a matter of trial and error. Start with a low accel, maybe 2 or 3, and slowly increase velocity until it stalls, then back off 25% or so. Then start increasing the accel and do the same thing. It's a bit of a hassle, but doesn't take to long.

| Hi ger21, thanks for the input, how do I go about tuning the motors separately if they are both attached to the gantry, if one moves it will twist the gantry after only a couple of turns. I presume they need to be under load and not just the motors free turning. KAT |

| I didn't say to move them separately. What I meant was you have to enter the information for both the master and the slave. You still move them together. On a related issue, I was just setting up my home switches on my slaved gantry. Make sure the home speed is the same for both the master and slave. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out why one side kept binding and staling while trying to home.

| Thanks again ge21 for the help, I take you mean to change the settngs for both the master & slave ( set to the same settings ) then move them together to test how they fair, altering the settings untill you are happy. and thanks for the heads up on the home speed would never had figured that out. I'll give it a go in the next couple of days to see how it all works. Thanks agin for the quick respone ger KAT |
