| Lets just pretend for a second that I don't fully understand what hardware I need. I'm familiar with Camsoft, I set up a 6 axis grinder using Camsoft Professional, using a Galil card and 6 stepping motors (VERY old). This is moderately reliable, I think it's the age of the motors and amplifiers. Anyhoo's with Mach2/3 I have got a couple of Allen Bradley drives and motors, do I need a card similar to the Galil? I'm just unsure how the PC operates the individual drives. Also can the Gecko drive or similar be used with any servo motor, I purchased a couple of Allen Bradley Ultra 3000i drives and motors MPL series (27lb/inch), but it would be nicer to go with a cheaper alternative. Also one last question, can the motors be different type, e.g servo and steppers on the same system? |

| Mach2/3 outputs step and direction signals from the parallel port only. It cannot use motion control cards like the Galil. You're drives must accept step and direction to be able to use them. Gecko's can be usedwith any DC brushed servo motor. I believe it has an 80V limit. Yes, you can mix steppers and servos on one system (using the appropriate drives).
