will mach 3 work with usb,noticed when i downloaded it that there was no mention of usb

Only with an external motion device with a Mach3 plugin. Either the KFLOP or Kmotion from http://www.dynomotion.com/ or the Smoothstepper from www.warp9td.com

Normal operation of Mach3 without additional hardware is parallel port only.

the plasma machine is run right now via flashcut and i would like to try mach 3,but the system is run by usb and i wasn't sure if mach3 has a usb input

You can't use a Flashcut controller with Mach3, if that's what you're asking.

Thats exactly what i am asking ,we're not happy with flashcut so it hought we would try mach3 but you have corrected that ,saves me wasting my time .Thanks a lot .
The only way mach3 is going to run this machine is to bypass the flashcut electronics and wire the 2 drives to a breakout board then to parallel port which is a lot of work.Thanks again
