Red face error message from Mach3

After upgrading from bobcad ver21 to 23, I am receiving error message from Mach3.
A window named Mach3 Scripts. reads, Error on line: 2-Unspecified failiure.
When I click ok The second window named M3.m1s-Mach3 VB script E...reads, Do spin CW ()

Is the error on line2 or is 2-the number for unspecified failiure?
Does this have to do with spindle setting in Bobcad cam or setting in Mach3?
Its does not stop my file to run correctly.
P.S. never happend with ver.21

Red face check this.

Just a simulation wont do it . You need to do a real run , but you dont need to cut anything, the error message pop-up at the very beginning.Just set your Z zero high enough.

Hi Claude,

I'm running Mach3 Ver. R2.61 and I occasionally get the exact same error. It doesn't seem to matter what GCode program you are running, it seems to give an error randomly. I have tried restarting Mach3 and running the same part program again and sometimes it fixes it and sometimes not.

I have also tried rebooting the computer and that has also worked sometimes and sometimes not. I am stumped as to the cause of this problem, and it is causing me not a little frustration as the machine tends to break bits when it tries to cut and the router doesn't kick in.

I have a feeling that it is a VB script error in the M3 macro, as that is the line of GCode that causes the error. I opened the M3 script in the VB script editor in Mach and all it says is DoSpinCW(). I don't know anything about VB scripting, but I think that is all it is supposed to say.

I will be watching this thread with interest to see if we can come up with a solution to this problem.

John

Buy me a Beer?

R2.63 was the lockdown version back then. Changing to that version might fix the problem.

Well I am running R2.63 now and everything is going smoothly. I am not sure if the version is the answer or the fact that I reformatted the computer when I installed Mach. Anyways, so far so good.

Hi John,
So the mach3 updated version fixed the problems?
No more error messages?

Hi Claude,

It worked for quite a while and then just recently I got the error message again. Rebooted the computer and that fixed it..... for now. I'd sure like to get to the bottom of this.

Does it stop you from running your files?
I just press start again and it runs ok.
I ve got a home made router with ( Mach3 without ATC) post processor.

Claude,

When Mach gives me the error, I can press cycle start again and it will continue on with the file, but the relay for the router will not kick in by itself. I have to manually push a button to start the router.

Every file I load after I get the error, I have to manually start the router, until I reboot the computer. Then (usually) all is fine.

My machine is the same basic idea as yours, home built MechMate 48" x 96" and no ATC.

Red face spindle

Hi John,
Have experimented a bit today after receiving the error again , notice that it dissapeared after I remove the line starting with s that is setting the spindle speed I think. I dont know much about Gcode.
I dont have a spindle controlled by software just a router control by hand, so it does not change much for me just an extra button to press.
I am beginning to think that this is a setting in v.23 now. Let us know if you find a cure I would like to get to the bottom of this too.

Claude
