    Exclamation mach 3 z-axis plunging

    everytime i start the cutting process no matter what the z depth is it plunges to the max depth which in turn either locks my mill up or takes the piece of wood with it any suggestions is it a set up issue or am i just missing something

    Sounds like probably a G43 tool height compensation issue? Can you post the g-code, and let us know where it's plunging?

    The router plunges at the very beginning of the cycle .The beginning of the g code is %

    Couple questions.

    Where is your Z zero set to?

    What is the Z DRO position when it's plunging?

    Why is the feedrate 20000?

    Try changing

    N4 G43H1 Z0.1 M8

    to

    N4 M8

    and see if it still does it. If it does, it's the G43 tool length comp.

    thank you for your help

    z zero is top of work piece. z dro reads -.2 when plunging, Tried your advice corrected feed rate to 60 and put in N4M8 Still plunges . How do I change G43 tool compensation length . thanks again

    Under the Mach3 "config" "tool table" Menu do you have any tool offsets in there? If you are not using tool offsets everything should be "0"


    You said that the DRO reads -.2 but the machine goes lower than that? Are you looking at Machine Cords in the DRO?
