MACH 3 Motor Tuning Max Velocity 1150? No higher?

Hello guys.
I got the machine working fine but Rapid is very slow.
I have P4 2.5Ghz.
Set Mach 3 at maximum 45000Hz.
In the Configuration page, I can crank velocity up to max at 1150.
Obviously, lower to 25000Hz reduced the max down to about 750.

My servo drive/motor can run up to 2500RPM.
but currently at max setting 1150 in MACH 3, it run about 250RPM.
run setting at 750 in Mach 3 generate about 150 RPM.

Anyone know how to change this setting to run much faster?
Thanks
Jef

If you are jogging from the keyboard and getting slow rapids, hold the shift key down while jogging, this will overide any percentage settings which are found on the tab key flyout.

A little more info on the drivers and such might be helpful.

Get a newer version of Mach3 that can run at 100Khz, or get a Smoothstepper than can run at 4Mhz. www.warp9td.com

Hi,
What's the encoder resolution? 2500lines?
Either get an external pulse engine like the Smoothstepper as Gerry sugests or look up if the servo drive has a pulse multiplier. The pulsemultiplier will let you get the speed up but the minimum step size (or resolution) goes down with it.

If you need BOTH high resolution and high speed then getting an external pulse-engine is the only way to go.

/Henrik.

My 0.02

I had a smoothstepper (and still do, for that matter) but went back to parallel cables due to some unresolved bugginess. I know a lot of folks use the smoothstepper successfully, but it didn't seem so great for my application. Do lots of searches on the various forums, including Mach and Warp9.
