stepper as spindle motor help

Hi guys is it posbile to run a steppermotor as a spindle motor in mach3
as sherline are supplying there mills with a choice of dc motor or stepper
as a spindle

i am trying the stepper option out but cant get it to work ports and pins are fine i know that for sure i run the program and the stepper will not tern at all

are am i going about this all wrong ??

Are you running it as a spindle? You would need to set it up that way to get the gcode to activate it and to regulate the speeds.

would like to but i am getting no response from the motor
and i am sure its connected fine

the gcode dont seem to activate it
using

S500 (SPEED)
M3 (START MOTOR)
M5 (TO STOP MOTOR)

This pdf may help you. Toward the end it has pictures of the mach screens that you need to deal with in order for Mach to control a spindle. Any spindle.

got no real way to show you my ports n pins
but i know they are correct becouse if i asign them to x or y axis it works perfect. as for spindle settings page it is stock settings not real sure what needs changing here

heres my ports n pins
if i disable the spindle and enable A-axis with the same pin settings
it works fine which leads me to think these settings are correct

I think you need to enable spindle relays above. Not sure, but I think so.
You also will need to setup the pulley ratio even though you don't have one. It will give you minimum speeds. That is at the bottom toward where you setup safe Z.

Then in the motor tuning, you need to enable the spindle and start playing with the step and direction variables. I think this will get you somewhere.

Does an output have to be enabled as well? Maybe. You might try that too.

tryed this but still no luck guys
