    How to zero machine coordinates???

Howdy... I wish to zero Mach3's machine coordinates.

I have Mach3->Config->Homing/Limits->Auto Zero turned OFF, for good reason (shown below).

If it is turned ON, then the machine coordinates get set to zero whenever the machine is zeroed. But how do I zero the machine coordinates if it is OFF??

Currently, when starting Mach3.exe, it makes a stupid assumption: "mach3.exe is starting, therefore mill must be at 0,0,0" - even if it is not. Which will eventually cause a toolcrash.

Reason for leaving AutoZero OFF: this allows you to check for missed steps: Manually zero the mill, run a job, then re-zero the mill: if the DRO's still read close to zero, then no steps were missed.

    They shouldn't.

When you home (ref) the machine, you're zeroing Machine Coordinates, IF you have Auto Zero checked.

How are you zeroing the machine? The zero buttons here zero the G54 coordinates (or whatever other you might be in), but don't change the Machine coordinates, whether Auto Zero is checked or not.

Turn on Persistent DRO's in General Config.

Could you explain this a little better? I don't quite understand what you're doing. And btw, Mach3 has a Verify function to check for lost steps. On the MDI page.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the only way to zero Machine coordinates is to Home/Ref the machine.

    to rezero the machine:
under DRO you see machine coord, click thatbox turns red move your spindle to home and then start clicking ZERO.

Once that is done click machine coord again and you will be back in part mode.

    Easy enough?

Doesn't work. When machine coord button is red, clicking ZeroX,Y,Z as you suggest does NOT change the values to zero - they remain unchanged.
