It should be fine.
I am converting my square column bench mill to CNC. I plan to use Mach3 on a computer with a 2.8 Ghz P4 processor and 2 gigs of RAM. The computer will be dedicated to running the mill. I'm not really sure how to ask this but will this setup produce enough pulses to drive a 640 oz/in stepper with a 2:1 pulley ratio using a Gecko G203V driver? I'm not sure if I worded this right, still learning. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks.
It should be fine.

I have no idea, and from what I've read, it's probably a matter of trial and error. But probably 3Ghz+ or one of the newer dual cores.
Probably easier and cheaper to just buy a Smoothstepper.![]()
