    "Unspecified failure"?

When I try to set the spindle speed on my Syil Super X3 with M03 S1500 or M04 S1500 (whether from the MDI screen or in a part program), I get this error: Error on line 2 - Unspecified failure, and Mach3 presents a VB debug screen for the DoSpinCW or DoSpinCCW routine (though it only shows the name of the routine, no code). Needless to say, the spindle doesn't move. What might be causing this? Thanks.

Sounds like the XML file isn't setup for the machine and is missing something from either the M6 macro or the pulley settings.

Does Syil supply an xml file for their machine with it ?

Yup, and I should have said I was able to control the spindle from Mach3 when I first set the machine up a couple of months ago. I didn't think I'd changed anything substantive on the PC, but maybe I have unknowingly. The PC is dedicated to controlling the mill.

Is it really M03 S1500 and not got a capital O in there ?
    Very easily done.
Failing that try deleting the Mach3mill.xml file [ or better still renaming it to mach3mill.old ] and then install the one that came with the machine.

    PR.

It is M03 and not MO3, though the 0 is optional. In any event, looks like closing and re-starting Mach3 solved the problem, for now.
