Question 4th axis using a stepper motor?

I am converting an older cnc mill that already has servo motors,I am using viper 200 drives for the x y z axis. I have a few extra stepper motors and drives laying around and Im wondering if I can use one of them instead of having to purchess another servo drive. Does anyone think that this will work or am I going to have problems doing this?

    Thanks Mike

I have seen a number of threads asking similar questions, and the answer is generally "yes", you should be able to use the stepper for your 4th axis.

    Here's just one such thread:

    Mixing servos and steppers?
