Hi all, I am running mach3 on a P4 3GHz, 2GB RAM PC (win xp sp3) with a homemade CNC, homemade electronics . When I am in motor tunning and setup an axis velocity (for ie. 2500mm/min) move the axis with up and down key it is move smoothly, but when I am in normal operation and jog that axis the movement is no smooth anymore like its loses steps. I dont know if I have to use optimization file for win xp. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Set the actual speed about 15% slower than what seems best in Motor Tuning. You might need to do optimization too, but try this first. Andrew Werby ComputerSculpture.com — Home Page for Discount Hardware & Software |

| Imo, it's not normal, but I've seen it reported from other users. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you.

| It is most assuredly NOT the computer, unless it is too new. You don't need a new/fast computer to get MACH3 running well. The P4 series is a good point in hardware evolution, though. You should absolutely do the MACH optimization steps! If it means a clean install, DO IT! http://www.machsupport.com/downloads...timization.txt |
