Hiya all, Havin' a little trouble w/ my syil CNC mill. During a recent program run, my z axis stalled out on a rapid upwards move. This has happened a few times before with different programs and i mistook it for a mechanical binding issue. I set the accel to 3 (was @ 6), and ran it again, it still stalls. If i do a rapid jog, it works fine. If enter a run command of g00 z+1, it works fine. I can hear it pulsing at a much higher frequency during this program. I'm also using a G100, which can easily pulse this thing to a stall. I'm perplexed as to why the program would make this stall, but other fast functions don't. I've tried it on different spots on the z axis, with the same results. thanks in advance, Brian |

| Brian, This can be caused by a too optimistic acceleration and velocity setting in motor tuning. Halve the values for the Z axis if the problems go away raise them till they come back then back off an amount for safety. The other cause is a cnc setup with the power supply at a low voltage. Don't forget to save the settings before you close the motor tuning dialogue box. There were some dodgy Mach versions that allowed the max motor speed to be to be over ridden along with the feed rate. But the newer versions do not suffer |
