I am a new user this is my first CNC and would appreciate some help. I am using a Taig Mill with Gecko driver from Deepgroove1 and Mach3 software. Managed to build the mill and set up Mach3 without too many issues and have all my steppers running but they all seem to glitch in both directions after about 5 full revolutions. Have tried reducing the speed went down as far as 250mm/min and still the same problem. Don't think the issue is mechanical as I can jog in steps of less than 5 revoultions without getting a glitch is only if I do a jog of beyond 5 turns that I get the glitch. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

| Hi Marman. Welcome to the Zone! Have you downloaded the XML file from Gecko? Have you tried lowering the acceleration? Do you have Step pulse width set to 2ms in ports & pins? If so, try setting it higher. What do you have your steps per inch set to? CR.

| Found the following on the Deepgroove website. I am using a Dual Core and it doesn't say "Standard PC". Am looking at getting a cheap P4 as a dedicated mill computer hoepfully this will solve the problem. Can pick up a refurbished box for $130 so not to bad if it fixes the problem. You need to go to Device manager/right click then choose properties/Hardware tab/Device manager button/and then click on the plus sign next to "Computer" icon, does it say "ACPI Uniprocessor" or "Standard PC" It should say Standard PC, if not, there is a good chance you'll be having issues. |

| If you want you can update the driver and SPECIFY to use STANDARD PC, but I'm not sure what exactly will happen on a multi cpu system... maybe just work with one core??? you might also specify in your bios to use one cpu as well if trying this... But the refurb/lease return with operating system isn't a bad deal as you'll get and XP pro license which is probably better for a cnc than a new machine anyways |
