.dxf to g-code Problems

Hi!

I've a very simple shaft designed in .dxf format (attached to this message)

When I try using LazyTurn to open the .dxf I get the following errors:
1. Warning: there's no appropriate default turning profile was found
2. CLazyTurnView: An OpenGL error occurred: invalid value

So, because I was getting nowhere using Lazyturn, I turned to Mach3 import of a .dxf file. By using that, Mach load my .dxf, says it has 1 layer 0 entities... The generated .tap file only contains:

(File ShaftAngled.tap )
(Sunday, September 26, 2010)

G90.1
G0 X1.0000
M5M30

I'm feeling I'm really a newbie on this. Could someone PLEASE help?

Buy me a Beer?

I don't have any programs that can open that .dxf, and looking at it in Notepad, I don't see any entities in it.

Lazyturn is very specific in it's .dxf requirements. See the manual.

ooooooook

ok, I see the problem might be with the .dxf itself. I'm gonna review the .dxf generation setup. And I'm gonna have a view at that Lazy manual.

Thanks for your help!

ACAD complains.....

Unknown value "AC1024" encountered in drawing version.

Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.

If ACAD can't read it's native format, then LazyTurn will sure get confused, or should.

Thanks!

Thank you all for your help.

I've been trying around with some CAD software, but now I think I'll stay with Freecad or CADuntu that just found (for free). They are generating .dxf files that Lazyturn or Mach3 understand.
