HI Andrew thankyou for your reply i have the xml file loaded i have a dedicated pc for my mill when i press the tab button for the mpg when you press the axis buttons shouldn't the dro move when its in demo mode mine doesn't on my office pc it does Im at a lost i have a license for mach 3 the original problem started when i found out much later on my x axis cable my son was getting the lawn mower out and hooked up onto the x axis cable pulling the wires out of the cable you cant see it because the wires remained inside the plug housing that's when my x axis was was working intermittently and then all the axis stopped working at the moment i have the mill pc on my workshop table with just the 4 th axis connected because i had spare motor i just don't know why the dro's arent moving in demo mode.
once again thank you regards Brian
If your mill runs on one computer but not on another, that indicates a computer issue. If all the settings are the same in both computers, then it might be your OS - is the dedicated PC you're trying to run this with set up with a 64-bit OS? That won't run your parallel port. But if any of the axes ran correctly on that computer, then it's something else.
If your plug was pulled out while the motors were powered up, then you might have blown a driver with the resulting spark. Fortunately, Geckodrives better than most companies about checking and replacing things.

thank you for your reply Andrew i have done some research from what i found is i cant try my office pc as it is 64 bit My dedicated mill pc is a 32 bit with office xp this does not explain why mach 3 demo is not working on my mill pc i cant get the dro's to move but on my office pc they do i have a demo mach 3 on that pc
I might have to source another dedicated mill pc to confirm the fault is my mill pc I have had my gecko G540 tested by peter homann my cnc supplier from homann designs he tested it for a week on and off could not fault my Gecko G540 which is great news,so in saying that the fault like you said is most likely is my pc but i wont know that for sure until i aquire another pc - to test it on , I'll keep you posted when i find what the problem was
once again thank you for your help . cheers
Brian
